Important — and this is firm: these templates are for your own personal record-keeping only. They are not a substitute for the merchant's original receipt when filing taxes, claiming a deduction, requesting a reimbursement from an employer, or making a warranty or return claim. Submitting a re-created receipt as if it were an original to obtain money or property you aren't entitled to is fraud — full stop. If you've lost an original receipt for a tax-deductible or reimbursable expense, contact the merchant directly to request a duplicate from their POS records; most retailers, restaurants, and gas stations can reissue a receipt from a card transaction within 30 to 90 days, and that duplicate is the document you should be working from.
